Plasma Pen Fibroblast Treatment - Before and Aftercare

Pre-treatment

  • Avoid using aspirins or blood thinning medication for at least 10 days before treatment.
  • Arrive for your appointment make up free and without false eye lashes of any type.
  • I will apply numbing cream to the area pre treatment so that you remain comfortable and pain free throughout.

Post Treatment

  • I recommend dry healing. It is best not to touch the area to enable the scabs to form. When the local anaesthetic cream wears off, the area will feel as though it has mild sunburn.
  • You can use an antibacterial cream such as Savlon on open or weeping wounds, or just dab it on gently to soothe the area if it feels too sore or tight. Make sure you wash your hands first. After the first 48 hours, you can also apply a little hyaluronic acid if the area feels tight, but it may sting a little. You will also need to wear a sunblock on the treated area – apply it by dabbing gently (also see below).
  • If the eyes have been treated, the area will swell, peaking at around days 2-3. This is normal. Some people swell more than others, but it is not unusual for the upper lids to swell when the lower lids are treated and vice versa. For this reason, I do not treat the upper lids and lower lids at the same time.
  • Avoid getting the area wet for 48 hours post treatment. Do not rub, scratch or pick the area. To wash the area, splash on water and pat dry – do not rub.
  • You must wear Factor 50 sunblock for 3 months following treatment. Allowing the skin to catch the sun can cause hyperpigmentation.
  • Avoid using any alcohol based products.
  • Avoid knocking off the scabs. Scratching off the scabs can lead to infection, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation or scarring.
  • It is best not to apply makeup until 5 days after treatment. At 5 days, the scabs start to fall off anyway.
  • Once all the scabs have fallen off (at around day 7-10) it is recommended that you use a serum that contains hyaluronic acid and at least 20% vitamin C under your usual moisturiser. It is always a good idea to consume a diet high in Vitamin C to help your skin to look the best it can.
  • You can resume normal activities straight away, although it is best not to exercise or bathe for the first 12 hours after treatment.
  • Try to stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke. Smoking can reduce the blood supply to the skin.
  • I love to see photos of your healing, so please send me them if possible, ideally every day for the first 5 days and then weekly. The final result will often not be seen until 6-8 weeks after treatment.
